    Cloth

Fabric materials can be donated to create more cloth masks to use. If you are unable to make the fabric masks yourselves, you can still donate fabric to various organizations that are making masks to distribute locally.

    Plastic

Wearing a plastic face shield along with a face mask is recommended as the best way to protect yourself. Face shields prevent droplets from coming into contact with the nose, mouth, and eyes. Donation of plastic materials that can be used to make these face shields can be immensely helpful to local organizations that are producing these items.

    PPE

Personal Protective Equipment is used by healthcare workers when caring for patients with confirmed or suspected COVID-19. Preferred PPE includes a face shield or goggles, an N95 or higher respirator, a pair of clean, non-sterile gloves, and an isolation gown. If a respirator is not available, facemasks are an acceptable alternative. The donation of PPE supplies can be especially helpful to frontline healthcare workers and essential workers as they are most exposed to transmission

    Hand Sanitizer

If soap and water are not available, the CDC recommends using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer containing at least 60% alcohol. The donation of these materials can help reduce transmission in communities that do not readily have access.

    Cleaning Supplies

Cleaning visibly dirty surfaces followed by disinfection is best practice for the prevention of COVID-19. High-touch surfaces should be cleaned and disinfected daily to remove germs and lower the risk of spreading infection. Surfaces should be cleaned and dried using paper towels to reduce the spread of microbes. Donation of these supplies can be especially crucial for essential work areas.

    World Health Organization

Donate to the World Health Organization's COVID-19 Solidarity Response fund. In the long-term the economy will not fully recover until the Virus is contained, so donating to the WHO will help distribute resources to end the pandemic, and get people back on their feet.

    Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank

The economic consequences of the pandemic are severe. Many people have lost their jobs, and cannot afford to continue paying their bills, rent, or for food. The Pittsburgh Food Bank is continuing to serve low-income families and individuals during this time, but the demand for their services has increased. A donation of $100 can help provide 500 meals to those in need.

If you are not located in Pittsburgh research your local or nearest food bank to see if they are accepting donations at this time.
